The Seattle Mariners' international scouting department has established itself as one of the top units in Major League Baseball, successfully signing significant talent. Among their top 10 prospects, three are international signings—Lazaro Montes, Felnin Celesten, and Michael Arroyo. On January 15, the Mariners added 13 new prospects to their ranks, including two top 20 international players: Venezuelan outfielder Yorger Bautista and Dominican shortstop Kendry Martinez.

Looking ahead, Seattle is poised to make a splash in the 2026 international signing period with the potential addition of outfielder Juan Rijo, ranked among the top 20 prospects for that year. According to scouting expert Joe Doyle, Rijo shares impressive hitting traits with Arroyo, who recently made significant leaps in the Mariners' system, batting .285 with 23 home runs and 89 RBIs across Low-A and High-A.

The Seattle Mariners have signed infielder Donovan Solano to a one-year contract worth $3.5 million, with potential performance bonuses that could add up to an additional $1 million based on plate appearances.

Last season, Solano showcased his skills with the San Diego Padres, batting .286 with eight home runs and 35 RBIs over 96 games. Notably, he excelled against left-handed pitchers, hitting .302 with four home runs. Throughout his 11-year major league career, he has maintained a .279 batting average and has accumulated 40 home runs and 279 RBIs, playing for teams including Miami, New York Yankees, and San Francisco.

In his recent performance, Solano has demonstrated impressive consistency, hitting .294 since 2019. Mariners' president of baseball operations Jerry Dipoto highlighted Solano's underrated capabilities, stating he is one of the more overlooked hitters in recent years. To make way for Solano, the Mariners designated left-hander Austin Kitchen for assignment, who had a challenging debut season.
